Why Health Reform

"Our heavenly father sent the light of health reform to guard against the evils resulting from a debased appetite, that those who love purity and holiness may know how to use with discretion the good things He has provided for them, and that by exercising temperance in daily life, they may be sanctified through the truth." Counsels on Health, 120-121

It is not that God wants to withhold any good thing from His people, but He in His infinite wisdom knows what is the better thing for us. He is able to see from the beginning to the end, and this puts Him in the better position to point us in the direction that is onto righteousness, for we of ourselves will lead a path onto destruction.

Many times we go down on our knees to petition the thrown of the God of heaven and earth; we ask for His guidance and His protection to be with us along the narrow path of righteousness. We leave from the presents of the Holy one of Israel with the confidence that He has heard and will answer. But in the moment when the glory of God is to be revealed in the form of His answer to our prayers, we differ from the way He leads us as if some strange thing is happening. The answer He gives is not one understood by His sheep nor the one that is desired.

"All who are partakers of the divine nature will escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. It is impossible for those who indulge the appetite to attain to Christian perfection." Testimonies, vol. 2, 399-400

Strict compliance to the laws or health, as well as wisdom and strength from God, are essential to the reaching of the highest standard in moral and intellectual attainments.

God expects us to reach a higher level in our spiritual relationship with Him, but He knows that until we overcome the weakness of the flesh there will forever be a separation between us and Him. " Only true health reformers will meet the mind of God."
